What Others Had to Say

I am very excited and optimistic about Major General Dondi Costin coming on board as the third president of Charleston Southern University. He is an extremely personable man who made quite an impression on the Presidential Search Committee. The vast leadership experience that Dondi will bring to CSU will benefit our organization from top to bottom. As a candidate from outside the world of academia, we are confident that his collaborative leadership style and steady demeanor leading large and complex organizations will translate well to CSU and continue the upward trajectory of the university. He is a quick learner who asks a lot of questions, and is laser focused on completing the mission. In addition, there is much excitement about what our new president can bring to the table for our award-winning Air Force ROTC program and other partnerships in this military friendly region of the country. Dondi is also a strong man of God who will strive to keep CSU’s focus on integrating faith in learning, leading, and serving. We should all be very excited to welcome Dondi and his wife Vickey to the Buccaneer family!

I am extremely excited about Dr. Costin, and I am confident that he will not only uphold the mission of CSU, but also lead us to be a guiding light for leadership around the globe. He is a proven leader, a passionate teacher, and committed soul-winner. I could not be more pleased!

Dr. Dondi Costin is very captivating, mission-oriented, but most importantly, he gives God all of the glory. From faith-based questions that Dr. Costin answered, we did not doubt that his leadership role, as well as his personal life, imitate Jesus Christ. In fact, one of his statements was, “I am who I am because of the Gospel.” Dr. Costin also stated, “If you take care of the people they will take care of the mission.” I am confident that Dr. Costin will create a welcoming atmosphere for the faculty and staff, but for the students as well. Being CSU’s next president will be a change for Dr. Costin, but he will be a great asset to our campus, and for the mission statement CSU has.
