1. To equip all CSU students with a solid grounding in our
culture's history and political institutions, and provide
the core knowledge necessary for those students who wish
to teach history at the primary and secondary level.
2. To provide the necessary instruction and preparation
for students who wish to earn graduate degrees in history
and political science, or attend law school.
3. To give majors a liberal arts education that includes
emphases on critical thinking, research, writing and interdisciplinary
thinking and training.
4. To reveal to students the necessity of history, and of
learning not only the facts, but also the motives and consequences
of historical events and the relationship of those events
to the present and future.
5. To provide the intellectual freedom for students to consider
history and political science from a uniquely Christian perspective,
and encourage the academic curiosity that will enhance individuals
both spiritually and intellectually.
