Technology
In
2003, Charleston Southern University became one of the largest
wireless computer networks in South Carolina and the first
institution of higher learning in the state to offer wireless
Internet access to all campus buildings. This allows students
to go wireless with their network cards, and enjoy free high-speed
Internet access for research and downloads in all 22 buildings
on the campus.
The
progress has also allowed faculty the ability to log on to
the network and even teach wireless. In addition,
CSU's School of Business uses state-of-the-art technology
and industry standard software in the classroom. Faculty
communicate
with students through Blackboard, a computer-based course
management and communications system.
In
2004, the CSU School of Business joined the SAP University
Alliance Program. Through this program, CSU has been able
to become a leader in higher education by partnering with
a dynamic leader in the business community. CSU now has access
to SAP's leading business solutions and Enterprise-wide Resource
Planning (ERP) computer-based information systems.
The
University Alliance Program allows CSU to use SAP's software
as an instructional
tool to help develop technically sophisticated graduates.
The SAP University Alliance Program provides a unique opportunity
for students to gain real-world experience, and because
corporate recruiters appreciate the value of SAP experience,
graduates
who receive certification from the University Program increase
their opportunities to find rewarding employment.
The
excitement surrounding the SAP initiative has been magnified
by the
understanding that no other college or university in
the state of South Carolina is currently a member of the
SAP
University Alliance.
