The mission of International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) is to promote and recognize excellence in business education in institutions of higher education worldwide, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, through specialized accreditation of business programs. The IACBE is the leader in mission-driven and outcomes-based programmatic accreditation in business, and it exists for the purposes of advancing academic quality and excellence in business education throughout the world. It is the philosophy of the IACBE that academic quality and excellence in business education should be measured in terms of the overall level of performance of an academic business unit (department, division, school, college of business, etc.) relative to its mission, rather than in terms of academic resource levels. This emphasis on mission-related performance is integral and fundamental to the entire quality assurance process of the IACBE.  Although adequate quantitative and qualitative levels of human, financial, and physical resources are essential contributing factors to academic quality, the focus should be on the value of those resources in producing measurable results.

Therefore, the IACBE implements an accreditation process that focuses on the outcomes of the teaching/learning process rather than on prescriptive input standards.  This emphasis on performance is integral and fundamental to the entire quality assurance process of the IACBE.  The IACBE is committed to "assisting colleges and universities in preparing today's business students for tomorrow's workplace."
