Honor God: We believe that the Charleston Southern University School of Business exists solely for the purposes of God. The ultimate purpose of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We honor God by dealing with others as if we were dealing with Christ. We bring God glory by completing the work that He has given us to do (Matthew 25:40, John 17:4).
Develop People:It is our ministry to help people understand and effectively pursue God’s call on their lives. This entails, among other things, investing significantly in the training of our students, staff and faculty. It is our task to help people hear God and obey His will, embrace a Christian worldview, cultivate a habit of practicing spiritual disciplines, and acquire the competencies expected by the world’s leading organizations. (Hebrews 13:7)
Pursue Excellence: We will strive for excellence in everything we do through internal audits, candor about reality, and continuous, innovative improvement. We further believe that elemental to creating and sustaining such a culture is individual and corporate accountability to specific performance measures. Accordingly, we will develop annual plans and scorecards designed to hold us accountable to our shared purpose to “excel still more.” (1 Thessalonians 4:1)
Be Faithful Stewards: Our time, talents, financial resources, and facilities are, in fact, God’s property. We are merely stewards of His business school. As such, we work at everything “as working for the Lord.” (1 Chronicles 29:11-12; Colossians 3:17, 23-24)
Cultivate a Christian Culture: As faculty and staff, we will eat together, pray together, learn together, be accountable to one another, celebrate together, and pursue our shared vision as a team. We will promote an environment of teamwork, good communication, service, fun, and love so that we will be have the culture God desires us to have. We will safeguard the human dignity of employees, students and others with whom we come into contact by recognizing their merits, by providing them with a sense of security, by allowing them input into important decisions, by ensuring their ability to prioritize family over work, by providing them clean, safe, and functional facilities, and by investing in resources necessary to deliver the highest standards of service and value. We will follow scriptural guidance in all of our interpersonal relations, seeking to humbly put others’ needs before our own and to love one another as we love ourselves.
