Profile: Dr. R. Scott Pearson
Dr. R. Scott Pearson is an assistant professor in the School of Business at Charleston Southern University and currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses.
He earned a bachelor of arts in human relations from Samford University; a master of business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship from the University of South Florida and a master of arts in economics and a doctorate in agricultural, environmental and development economics from The Ohio State University. His teaching interests include courses in economics, entrepreneurship and investment finance.
Dr. Pearson is currently the chair of business and economics. He has developed courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and was instrumental in developing the new entrepreneurship emphasis. In addition, he brings more than 20 years of professional experience in the investment industry, in addition to many years in publishing, to the faculty. He is a member of the American Finance Association, the Association of Private Enterprise Education, the Southern Economic Association, the Association of Christian Economists and the Christian Business Faculty Association. He is an honoree of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society, Pi Gamma Mu national social science honorary society and Beta Gamma Sigma international business honor society. His scholarly interests include microfinance, crowdfunding, investment markets in the developing world and innovative teaching strategies for business.
