Gary Vance, Dean
Gary Vance earned his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, a master of business administration from Winthrop University and a master of science in mechanical systems engineering from Kettering University. Gary's 25-year career has been predominantly in operations management with such companies as Toyota, Rockwell International, Peterbilt and HON. Gary has served in many technical, management and executive roles including manufacturing engineer, quality engineer, production manager, materials manager, operations manager, plant manager, general manager, vice president of production and lean deployment director. Gary has developed a high level of expertise in the fields of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma.

Rex Nestor, Assistant Dean
Rex joined the College of Adult and Professional Studies in June 2012 after serving in several positions at Charleston Southern over a course of 25 years, including Director of Admissions Operations, University Registrar and Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Prior to Charleston Southern, Rex managed a branch office for a division of Citizens and Southern Bank (now Bank of America) that offered mortgages and lending services. He holds a bachelor of arts in economics from UNC at Chapel Hill and a master of business administration from Charleston Southern. Contact him regarding academic advising and registration.

Katie DePoppe, Program Development Manager
Katie, a native of Charleston, earned a bachelor of arts degree in English and religion from Charleston Southern, and joined the CAPS team in February 2012 after serving on campus as Assistant to the President since 2010. She currently serves as the Program Development Manager, whose primary responsibilities include serving as the liaison between the publishers of CSU's learning management systems and the University, advocating for online faculty needs, and managing CSU's online curriculum and maintenance. Her areas of expertise include online curriculum development and management, media development and public relations, publishing, writing and editing. Primarily a point-person for faculty, Katie still welcomes student interaction, especially regarding Charleston Southern Online's social media.

Tina Stell, Operations Coordinator
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, working for the Department of Defense and holding diverse positions throughout the business world, Tina joined Charleston Southern University in April 2008 and currently serves as the Operations Coordinator for the College of Adult and Professional Studies. Tina holds a bachelor of management arts from Charleston Southern and is currently pursuing a master of arts degree from Liberty University. She is responsible for daily operations regarding the eCollege platform, CAPS faculty and CAPS departmental operations.

Lisa Kemp, Recruiting/Admissions Coordinator
Lisa, a native of Charleston, joined the CAPS team in June 2014. She earned a bachelor of science in business administration from Southern Wesleyan University and her master of science in criminal justice from Charleston Southern University. She completed both degrees as a working adult, and has 14 years of experience in higher education which includes teaching, recruitment/retention, curriculum development, management of student success programs, and accreditation oversight. As the Recruiting/Admissions Coordinator, Lisa is the first line of contact for all potential and new students.

Tyler McSwain, Recruiter
Tyler, a native of Charleston, earned his degree in religion/youth ministry from Charleston Southern and graduated cum laude in 2009. He joined the CAPS team in July 2013 as a Recruitment Counselor after working 4 years in the corporate world. Tyler serves as part of the first line of contact for all potential and new students, guiding them through the admissions process. He works directly with Lisa Kemp to ensure students an easy, pleasurable experience as they become a part of the Charleston Southern family. He loves to develop long-term relationships with students in order to encourage them to seek their life-long dreams and passions through our educational foundation. Mindy Burns, Financial Aid Counselor
Mindy, originally from Columbus, Ohio, earned her bachelor of science degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She joined the Financial Aid team in January 2014 as a Financial Aid Counselor after serving as Admissions Coordinator in Huntersville, North Carolina, for SouthLake Christian Academy. She assists in awarding institutional, state and federal aid to the students of the College of Adult and Professional Studies.
