Melanie
Melanie G. Harris earned her PhD and MA from the University of South Carolina. She has published her work in journals such as South Carolina Review and Southern Poetry Review, and in the anthologies From the Green Horseshoe: The Poems of James Dickey's Student; 45/96, the Ninety-Six Sampler of South Carolina Poetry; and The Southern Poetry Anthology, Volume I: South Carolina. She has won a S.C. Academy of Authors Fellowship in Poetry, a S.C. Fiction Project award, a Frank Durham Creative Writing Award and Academy of American Poets Prizes from Columbia College and University of South Carolina. Additionally, she has given poetry readings around the state, worked in the S.C. Arts Commission's Poets in the Schools program and served on the Board of Governors and as co-chair of the South Carolina Academy of Authors.
