Charleston Southern University Plagiarism Tutorial

Citing Your Sources

Citing your sources will help you avoid plagiarism. There are many different types of citation styles but the most common are APA (American Psychological Association), Chicago Manual of Style/Turabian (University of Chicago/Kate Turabian), and MLA (Modern Language Association). Make sure you know what style your professor wants or recommends using when writing.

Each of the following links is a PDF (from the University of California Berkeley Library). You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to access the information. Additionally, you'll find paper copies of each style manual in the library at the reference desk:

  • APA (Ref. BF 76.7 .P83 2001)
  • Chicago/Turabian (Ref. Z 253 .C57 2003 / Ref. LB 2369 .T8 1996)
  • MLA (Ref. LB 2369 .G53 2003)
