Online program among best, says U.S. News & World
The College of Adult and Professional Studies at Charleston Southern University has been recognized as one of the top online degree programs by U.S. News and World Report. According to the publication, “the best online bachelor's degree programs, based on factors such as graduation rates, indebtedness of new graduates, and academic and career support services offered to students.” Charleston Southern ranked highest in student satisfaction and retention.
“We are extremely excited to learn of the recent U.S. News and World Report ratings," said Gary Vance, dean of the College of Adult and Professional Studies. "Their rating process is very rigorous and comprehensive, so receiving such a high rating truly validates and affirms what we are doing. Also, as part of the process, we have received very detailed feedback regarding our strengths and weaknesses. We will use that information to accentuate the positive areas and improve those areas not yet up to the high standards we are setting for ourselves.”
Charleston Southern’s Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management is an accelerated online degree program which provides a wide range of working professionals the ability to fit a degree program into their schedule and budget. The undergraduate degree provides a comprehensive and well-rounded organizational management curriculum.
In 2011, the program expanded its options, adding four concentrations to meet the high-demand in the Charleston region. The concentrations include Healthcare Management, Hospitality & Tourism, Human Resources Management and Project Management.
In 2013, David Britt, an assistant professor of management in the College of Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS) at Charleston Southern, was recognized as online professor of the year by Best Online Colleges. Britt received a $1,000 award which he in turn donated to CSU’s University Scholarship Fund, as the online program is targeted toward working adults.
In addition, the College of Adult and Professional Studies new Master of Science in Organizational Management continues to grow. Last month, the College announced the program has expanded to offer new concentrations in Supply Chain Management, Analytics, Project Management and Operations Management. The additional master’s degree concentrations are , designed to prepare graduates for leadership in the manufacturing and industrial sectors.
“Without question, these concentrations are intended to address specific needs right here in the Charleston area,” said Vance. “The manufacturing and industrial base continues to grow locally, and there are many professionals within these disciplines that would see their skills sets and credentials enhanced by pursuing one of these opportunities.”
