CSU hosts Career Fair Thursday
The Career Center will host a Career and Education Fair Thursday, Oct. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Brewer Center. The fair is an opportunity for students to meet with potential employers or graduate schools in the Southeast.
Representatives from automotive, sales/marketing, media, education (schools and school districts), financial services, food services, government and public administration, health care, insurance, graphic design, military and defense, ministry, nonprofit, retail, science and manufacturing, social services, staffing, telecommunications and utilities industries and organizations will attend. A number of graduate schools, including College of Charleston and University of South Carolina, will be represented, as well.
Students who plan to attend should dress professionally. The Career Center may be able to provide attire for those who need to borrow it and will be set up at the Brewer Center desk outside of the career fair. The career counselors recommend that students bring copies of their resumes, which the Career Center can review or help students to construct.
Students should also be familiar with the organizations they are interested in approaching and should have a brief sales pitch ready in case an employer or school seems interested in students’ experience. They should also remember to smile, use a strong handshake and eye contact and exhibit a positive attitude.
A full list of employers and schools scheduled to attend the career fair may be found at charlestonsouthern.edu/careers or by visiting the Career Center on the first floor of the Strom Thurmond Center. Career counselors can answer questions about the fair in the Career Center, as well.
