Kevin Coriolan named CSU Vista Coordinator
Volunteer Coordinator Kevin Coriolan wants students to know that they can make a difference in the lives around them every day.
Coriolan is the new AmeriCorps VISTA representative on campus. VISTA stands for volunteer in service to America, and VISTA representatives commit to facilitating service for a specific amount of time. When he was a college student, Coriolan found his passion for helping others and advocating for social justice issues.
His desire to go somewhere new and his interest in higher education and service led him to CSU and the volunteer coordinator position As a recent college graduate, Coriolan feels his experiences and passion for service make him approachable.
“I would like to open the eyes of college students to the world around them, specifically in the Charleston area. Even a global outlook is greatly beneficial,” he said. “I want to introduce students to the advantages of community service for themselves and for the community.”
He said, “Young people need to realize how much power they actually have – they have a lot of influence that needs to be tapped into.”
Coriolan will work with the monthly Engage projects and will meet with the Board of Student Organizations to encourage and promote volunteer opportunities.
