Charleston Southern University was a proud sponsor of the 2014 Charleston STEM festival, a free, family-friendly celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the Lowcountry. The festival was funded through a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation’s Program in Public Understanding of Science and Technology and donations from Charleston Southern University, The Citadel, Google, MeadWestvaco, S2TEM Centers SC, and the SC Coalition of Science & Mathematics.

The faculty and selected CSU students will facilitate activities for K- 12 students involving computer games and demonstrations, robotics, science experiments, and math activities with the use of iPads. The festival brought STEM education to our community in fun and unexpected ways.

The Lowcountry STEM Collaborative is a South Carolina based non-profit organization that aims to effectively engage the region’s stakeholders to advance STEM literacy, bolster a STEM workforce, and establish our region as a leader in STEM education.
