CSU Passion Week starts Monday
Charleston Southern University kicks off Passion Week on Monday, March 25 with events scheduled Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on campus.
On Monday, CSU students, faculty, staff are invited to visit the Charleston Room (off the Dining Hall in the Strom Thurmond Center) to participate in a prayer journey. Campus Ministries and community partners will be actively praying from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
The campus comes together again Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Lightsey Chapel Auditorium for a special Passion Week worship service message from CSU vice president of student affairs and athletics, Dr. Rick Brewer. This event is open to faculty, staff and students and Chapel credit is offered.
Wednesday, Charleston Southern will host two events. First, the University will host Chapel at 11:00 a.m. where we seek to share the Gospel of Jesus through song, testimonies, God’s word and a call for faith. Second, we have corporate worship that night in the Chapel at 7:00 p.m.
Passion Week is an annual week-long event hosted by Charleston Southern University leading up to Easter weekend. CSU campus pastor Jon Davis said, “One verse that I love surrounding the resurrection is when Jesus called Lazarus out of the tomb. After Lazarus came out (with “his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face), “Jesus said...‘Take off the grave clothes and let him go.’” (John 11:44; NIV) When I read the aforementioned, all I can think about is us. We have been set free by the blood of Jesus and now have been “let…go” to bring glory to our risen Savior!”
Charleston Southern University’s Passion Week is hosted by Campus Ministries. For more information on CSU’s campus worship and ministry events, visit:http://www.csuniv.edu/campuslife/ministries/
