Mr. Smith currently serves as the Clinical Education Coordinator for the Athletic Training Program, as well as an Instructor in the Department of Kinesiology, teaching both athletic training and kinesiology courses. His teaching interests include clinical examination and diagnosis of injury and illness. During his time at Charleston Southern University, he has also served as an athletic trainer for the baseball team and clinical instructor for the ATEP.
Prior to his tenure at Charleston Southern University, Mr. Smith served as the Head Athletic Trainer and Adjunct Faculty Member at California State University, San Marcos in San Marcos, CA. Professionally, Mr. Smith has worked in many environments as an athletic trainer including the United States Olympic Committee, college and high school settings. Mr. Smith received his B.S. in Exercise Physiology from California State University, Chico and a M.S. in Kinesiology and Athletic Training from Indiana University in 2002. Mr. Smith has been a NATA certified athletic trainer since 2001 and is a current member of NATA, MAATA and SCATA. In his spare time he enjoys outdoor activities, watching sports and spending time with his wife and his son.
